Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, signed a Letter of Intent with Ms. Abe Toshiko, Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan (MEXT), with the aim of expanding cooperation mechanisms with Japan in the field of education, opening new areas of support for people with disabilities, and establishing partnerships in technical education and vocational training.

This took place at the headquarters of the Japanese Ministry of Education, on the sidelines of Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif's participation in the ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), hosted by Yokohama, Japan, from August 20 to 22.

The Minister expressed his deep gratitude to Minister Abe Toshiko for her visit to Egypt, appreciating her efforts in strengthening joint cooperation in the field of education. He emphasized the Ministry's desire to continue this fruitful cooperation, especially in light of the successes achieved by the Egyptian-Japanese Schools Project, which will be highlighted during the TICAD conference as a successful model that can be replicated across the African continent.

The Minister also expressed his pleasure at expanding areas of cooperation, particularly enhancing cooperation and opening new areas in supporting education for people with disabilities and establishing partnerships in technical education and vocational training, with a focus on transferring Japanese expertise in these vital areas, particularly agriculture.

During the meeting, the Minister extended an official invitation to his Japanese counterpart to attend the opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum.

For her part, Ms. Abe Toshiko expressed her pleasure at signing the Letter of Intent on the sidelines of TICAD 9, stressing that this achievement is the fruit of ongoing cooperation and joint efforts that began since the Minister's visit to Japan last February.

The Japanese Minister affirmed her full support for the agreements concluded between the Egyptian Ministry of Education and Japanese partners such as Yamaha, Casio, and Sprix, noting her ministry's keenness to launch new successful projects, particularly in the fields of technical education and education for people with special needs, building on the success of the Egyptian-Japanese schools project.

The Minister also affirmed her country's pride in this pioneering project, noting that the success story of the Egyptian-Japanese schools will be showcased at the Japanese Ministry of Education's "EDUPORT" pavilion during TICAD 9, as an inspiring model of international cooperation in the field of education.
