Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, visited Tachikawa Midori School (Challenge School) in Tokyo to review this model for supporting dropout students.

Tachikawa Midori School is the newest technical school specializing in absorbing dropout students and preparing them for reintegration into society through an integrated educational system.

The school offers a distinctive model based on a three-period system, with a four-year study period. Students are required to complete 74 credit hours to graduate, including 40 hours for specific core subjects such as Japanese, history, geography, science, mathematics, and English, in addition to 34 hours for elective subjects.

The school also provides psychological and social support programs for students, provided by psychologists, in addition to integrating them into community activities and field trips aimed at boosting their self-confidence and building their personalities.

During his tour of the school, Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif inspected the classrooms, laboratories, and workshops equipped with the latest educational tools in technical and industrial fields, such as information technology, electronic game design, woodworking, graphics, and other applied disciplines.

In this context, Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif stated that this Japanese model demonstrates that education is not only about transferring knowledge, but also about rebuilding individuals and opening new horizons for students who have been hindered by difficult circumstances. He noted that the Ministry of Education is looking forward to the possibility of transferring this experience to Egypt, in a manner that is compatible with the uniqueness of the Egyptian environment, while preserving the spirit of Japanese thought and methodology in providing supportive and innovative education.

The Minister added that investing in these students is an investment in the future of the entire society, as they are energies capable of creativity and production if they receive appropriate support and training. Through international cooperation, we seek to adopt the best international experiences that achieve educational justice and provide second chances for those struggling in education.

The Minister was accompanied during his visit to the school by Dr. Hanem Ahmed, the Minister's Advisor for International Cooperation and Agreements, and Ms. Nevin Hamouda, the Minister's Advisor for Strategic Relations and Supervisor of Egyptian-Japanese Schools.
