The Minister of Education participates in the opening ceremony of the UK Edtech exhibition to exchange experiences in the field of digital education
Today, Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, participated in the opening ceremony of the UK Edtech exhibition, which focuses mainly on digital education and school technology, and represents an appropriate environment for exchanging experiences in this field, and also contributes to spreading the culture of using modern technology in the field of education.
In his speech, Dr. Reda Hegazy expressed his happiness at participating in this important event, and extended his thanks and appreciation to the UK Ambassador to Egypt for the kind invitation to attend this celebration, praising the permanent and constructive cooperation between the Ministry and the British Council and being one of the arms of the embassy in supporting education in Egypt, especially IPS Schools.
The minister said: "The revolutions in technology, computer science, programming, and rapid developments in this field have called for improving the abilities of our students to find innovative solutions to the problems surrounding them, through the use of the technology of the fourth industrial revolution, and preparation for the fifth industrial revolution, pointing out that in this context, I have adopted The Ministry has a strategy in using technology in education in schools, and has taken clear steps in it, and made tangible efforts, in implementing this strategy.
The minister explained that among these efforts is the official website of the ministry, which includes a group of educational platforms, including the e-learning platform, a platform for live broadcasting of virtual classes, in addition to the Ministry of Education’s YouTube channel, our school channels 1, 2, 3, the Egypt Classes platform and the mobile application ( Our School Plus).
And the minister continued: "Within the framework of concern for the need to provide a technological environment that supports the use of technology in education and its inclusion in all educational practices under the distance education system, schools were equipped with technological infrastructure, as secondary schools and schools for outstanding students were equipped."
The minister added that the ministry has provided tablets for all high school students, but within the framework of automating examination work, the ministry has made available an electronic platform to apply for exams, where an electronic system has been prepared and developed to manage the work of the discipline and monitoring committees of high school, linking them to the central database, and correction centers have been equipped. High school exam papers electronically - without human intervention - and exam results are announced electronically on the Ministry's website.
The minister said: "Our participation in this event represents one of the fruits of the efforts made by the Egyptian state under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi - President of the Republic - in achieving the goals of sustainable development, foremost of which and at the top of its priorities is attention to education and its development, and the integration of technology into the educational process." ".
At the end of his speech, the Minister extended his thanks and appreciation to all those who contributed their efforts in this important exhibition.
For his part, Gareth Bailey, UK Ambassador to Cairo, welcomed Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, and the audience, stressing that Egypt has taken extensive measures in developing education and moving towards introducing technology into the educational process, noting that education is a very important point in the history of relations. linking Egypt and the United Kingdom.
The UK ambassador indicated that the UK offers many scholarships to Egyptian students in many disciplines, explaining that we are working to bridge educational gaps and for schools to be online, to face any crises, noting that in cooperation with the Education Services Suppliers Association BESA we are trying to provide technological assistance. to many schools.
The ambassador added that educational technology is not only a computer, as the future of education is deeper and broader in scope, as it cares about quality and meeting the needs of students and teachers.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Ahmed Daher, Deputy Minister for Technological Development, Dr. Sherine Hamdy, Advisor to the Minister for Administrative Development and Supervisor of the Central Administration for the Affairs of the Minister's Office, and directors of British schools in Egypt.
