The Minister of Education discusses cooperation mechanisms with UNESCO and his Pakistani counterpart
Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, met Stefania Giannini, Assistant Director-General for Education at UNESCO, and Dr. Bishr Imam, Director of UNESCO’s Regional Office in Cairo, on the sidelines of his participation in the activities of the Global Forum on Higher Education and Scientific Research entitled (Vision of the Future), which is organized by the Ministry of Education Higher Education and Scientific Research during the period from 8 to 10 December 2021, in the New Administrative Capital.
During the meeting, Dr. Tarek Shawky stressed that the Egyptian state has adopted the national project for the development of education, which aims to prepare a new vision for the educational community as a whole, so that the student becomes more interested in learning and innovation. international education, as well as promoting and developing skills among young people.
Shawky reviewed the efforts made by the Ministry to develop educational curricula since 2017, where the Curriculum Development Center has developed curricula for kindergarten, first grade, and up to fourth grade, according to a vision based on the idea of scientific sequencing and accumulation, and in line with international standards, in cooperation With experts and international partners, especially the World Bank and the United Nations Children's Fund "UNICEF".
For her part, Stefania praised the boom in the education file in Egypt, and the upgrading of Egyptian culture and society, praising the constructive cooperation between UNESCO and Egypt, looking forward to benefiting from the Egyptian expertise in supporting the organization's activities and programs during the coming period.
In a related context, Dr. Tariq Shawqi met his counterpart in Pakistan, Mr. Shafqat Mahmoud, Federal Minister of Vocational Education and Training in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, to discuss ways of cooperation in the field of education between the two countries.
