Dr. Tariq Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, participated, via video conference, in the UNESCO Global Conference on Education for Sustainable Development, "We learn for our planet, work for sustainability", which is being held from May 17 to 19, with the aim of enhancing awareness of sustainable development challenges. .

This global conference brings together about 2,500 participants, including 81 ministers of education, as well as the main actors committed to changing education, so that all learners can face the climate crisis, the loss of biodiversity, and all other sustainable development challenges.

Dr. Tarek Shawky reviewed the dimensions of the educational development journey in Egypt, which aims to change the entire system, to transform from education to learning, with the students' role not being limited to being recipients of information, but rather becoming beneficiaries of an integrated system, this system provides them with information and provides them with skills. The life that shapes their intellectual structure and behavior in order to achieve Egypt Vision 2030.

"Shawky" said that the Ministry of Education is working day and night on multiple axes, with the great support of the Egyptian state and all its institutions, to contribute to building the Egyptian human being, by building a modern education system 2.0 based on the latest international standards (from kindergarten and grades one, second and third primary) As well as developing learning and assessment at the secondary level in order to ensure students' achievement of real learning outcomes.

The Minister of Education said that the teacher is the basis for the success of the new education system, and there is a training plan for teachers on the new curricula, prepared by a group of the best professors at the National Curriculum Development Center, indicating that the ministry has worked to integrate modern technology into the educational process by providing tablets and smart boards. To facilitate students' entry to the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, which is a unique knowledge model in the world.

On technical education, the Minister of Education and Technical Education reviewed the success of the experience of schools of applied technology in a tripartite partnership between the ministry that provides the school and teachers, and the private sector as a representative of business owners wishing to prepare the human resources necessary to operate their factories, in addition to a representative of an international body to ensure the quality of the educational process. This educational model has met with great demand from students who have a middle school diploma, especially those who have high grades that easily qualify them to join public education.

The conference will culminate with the "Berlin Declaration on Education for Sustainable Development", which will propose a series of policies covering teaching, learning, vocational training and civic engagement.
