"Education" participates in the UNESCO meeting on the "Open Technology Supported Schools" project
On behalf of Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, Dr. Reda Hegazy, Deputy Minister for Teachers’ Affairs, participated in the UNESCO meeting on the UNESCO project (Open Schools Supported by Technology), through the “Zoom” application.
The project aims to establish a distance learning center at the Professional Academy for Teachers, put an ICT competency framework for teachers in its context and apply it by the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, establish a training platform for educational cadres, and enable teachers, managers and supervisors to use technology and digital content in teaching to support blended learning. Or distance education, strengthening the institutional capacities of cadres working in the distance education center, as well as creating a community of practice on the platform to share knowledge, experience and best practices, and creating a digital library of knowledge sources and training materials, in addition to translating various relevant knowledge sources and training materials.
Dr. Reda Hegazy thanked the UNESCO Cairo office and Huawei for this project, which will contribute to improving the performance of teachers in Egypt and various countries.
Dr. Reda Hegazy confirmed that Egypt is one of the countries that succeeded in completing the educational process during the Corona pandemic, noting that the new education system 2.0 emphasizes the integration of technology into the educational process, by providing multiple digital learning resources and learning platforms, which keep pace with the learning style of the The student, which also contributed to providing education for all, achieving educational quality and access to a digital student.
During the meeting, the Deputy Minister for Teachers' Affairs indicated that integrating technology into the educational program has become an imperative.
He explained that digital textbooks are not the only source of education, but rather that many digital educational sources must be relied on in order for learning to become free from time and space.
The Deputy Minister also stressed the important role of the teacher, pointing out that there is no real development without upgrading the teacher’s performance, and that the teacher’s role has shifted from providing information to a guide to multiple digital learning resources and facilitator of the educational process, and helping each student to reach good learning.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Yao Osei Adotum, Minister of Education of Ghana, Dr. Fanta Mandefru, Deputy Minister of Education in Ethiopia, Stefana Giannini, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for the Education Sector, Kevin Gang, Chief Marketing Officer of Huawei, and a number of UNESCO education officials.
