Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, held a meeting with the Egyptian Student Union to discuss the schedule of high school exams for the 2023/2024 academic year.

The meeting aimed to discuss the schedule of high school exams, considering that the Egyptian Student Union is the most relevant to high school, and to reassure them of providing all means of comfort to students, stressing that the ministry is keen on the student’s interest in the first place.

The Minister stressed that the schedule takes into account the time periods between exams in all the different sections so that students have the appropriate opportunity to review.

Dr. Reda Hegazy also explained that the schedule includes holding exams for non-additive subjects for the group before Eid Al-Adha, starting on Saturday, June 10, so that students have the opportunity to make the necessary revisions before the start of exams for added subjects for the group, which are scheduled to begin on Saturday, June 22.

In this context, Dr. Reda Hegazy explained that the Ministry was keen, during setting the examination schedule, to provide a sufficient period of time for each section separately to allow students the opportunity to review before each subject’s exam, adding that setting the dates for exams for subjects outside the total before exams for basic subjects also aims to remove tension among students. Students before exams added subjects to the total.

The Minister reviewed the various measures taken by the Ministry since the beginning of the academic year to control the secondary school system, the most important of which was preventing transfers of secondary school students except through a committee formed in the Ministry to study each case separately.

Dr. Reda Hegazy also explained that the Ministry will take intensive and more advanced measures during this year’s exams to confront the phenomenon of cheating in all its forms.

The Minister stressed that the high school certificate exams for the current academic year 2023/2024 have the same technical specifications as last year’s exams in terms of the number of objective and essay questions in each subject and the grades assigned to them, taking into account the rules of the technical formulation of the questions, so that they are clear, specific and not subject to interpretation.

The Minister also stressed that the number of questions in each exam should be proportional to the time allocated for answering and reviewing.

Dr. Reda Hegazy explained that the exams will be in the “open book” system, similar to last year, where the student will receive the concept booklet at the beginning of the exam for each subject and hand it over to the invigilator at the end of the exam.

For their part, the Egyptian Student Union praised the high school exam schedule for the current academic year, which gives students the appropriate opportunity to review before each exam.

Following the meeting, the Minister approved the schedule for high school exams to be announced.

The Ministry is scheduled to publish an explanatory video about the questions of the high school exams and the mechanism for students writing data on the answer sheet for multiple choice questions and essay questions.
