Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, met with Mrs. Elena Panova, the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Egypt, at the Ministry's General Office, to discuss files of joint cooperation between the Ministry of Education and the United Nations in Egypt in the education sector.
The meeting witnessed a discussion of ways to enhance potential areas of cooperation that would ensure continued cooperation in addressing quality education for all generations living in Egypt.
The two parties discussed joint cooperation in supporting national efforts to reform the education system in Egypt, with a special focus on the Education 2.0 strategy, and addressed multiple areas to expand potential cooperation to support the Ministry's efforts in national reform programs, foremost of which is the Dignified Life Initiative.
They also discussed, during the meeting, targeted interventions aimed at raising the quality of education services at the level of Egyptian villages, as well as talking about potential areas to support the Ministry's plans to build smart classrooms at the national level as part of the transition towards achieving digital education and improving skills-based learning. .
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Tarek Shawky welcomed Mrs. Elena Banova, praising the important role played by the United Nations in supporting the Egyptian educational sector, and the importance of continuing work between the two sides on the basis of partnership, cooperation and transparency to serve the educational process.
Shawky pointed out that education is a learning journey, and students should enjoy learning during this journey, stressing the importance of digital transformation in this educational journey, and the mastery of the teacher and his acquisition of skills in it, in order to achieve the success of the educational process, pointing to cooperation and possible benefit from educational grants, and integrating the principle of education from For sustainable development in all types of education, whether (formal school education, or non-formal education “community education”), which contributes to correcting any imbalance and treating it in a sound and clear manner.
Ms. Panova expressed her appreciation for the great and comprehensive development witnessed by the education system in Egypt under the leadership of Dr. Shawky, and commented, “Egypt has taken serious reform measures by adopting the Education 2.0 strategy, which showed a real improvement in the education system that ensures the transition to quality digital education and skills for all people who They live in Egypt.
She added, "We appreciate the progress that has been made in the education sector in Egypt because the success of implementing the sustainable development goals depends on the ongoing reform in the field of education," stressing that Egypt's reform plans in education are a pioneering story in the region.
It is worth noting that the United Nations in Egypt works closely with the Ministry of Education in supporting national efforts to reform the education system in Egypt in cooperation with several United Nations agencies in Egypt, including UNICEF, UNESCO, the World Food Program, the International Labor Organization, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, UNIDO and the United Nations Fund This cooperation includes supporting the physical infrastructure of schools and community schools, working to provide students with access to education and addressing student dropouts, in addition to updating and developing new educational curricula to consolidate e-learning and skills-based education with a focus on developing technical education.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Sherine Hamdi, the minister's advisor for administrative development and supervisor of the central administration for the affairs of the minister's office.
