Today, Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, met with the USAID delegation at the ministry's general office to discuss aspects of cooperation in the field of teacher training and the Education for Tomorrow program.

The meeting discussed areas of cooperation between the Ministry and the US Agency for International Development, especially with regard to developing the professional performance of teachers and improving performance by adopting strategies that support innovation and quality assurance in education.

At the beginning of the meeting, the minister welcomed the attendees, stressing that the ministry is keen to develop the performance of teachers in light of digital transformation and its use in sustainable professional development and promotion for teachers and the activation of the electronic training and professional development platform.

The minister added that the projects launched by the ministry to develop the performance of teachers aim to improve the skills of teachers, which has a direct impact on the advancement of the educational level of students and the advancement of the educational system in the country.

During the meeting, the minister referred to the initiative of the President of the Republic to prepare young cadres to lead and manage schools, the first phase of which will start with 1,000 teachers to become principals after obtaining a diploma in strategic management.

The agency’s delegation reviewed the features of the Education for Tomorrow program, which aims to develop the performance of primary school teachers through professional development based on teacher competency standards and support and develop procedures for the validity of promotion for teachers and the system of motivating them in order to encourage continuous professional development and improve performance for teachers and educational leaders.

The attendees agreed at the meeting to form joint working groups to discuss the files of projects that will be worked on during the coming period, with the aim of promoting the educational system in the country.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Ahmed Daher, Deputy Minister for Technological Development, Dr. Sherine Hamdi, Advisor to the Minister for Administrative Development and Supervisor of the Central Administration of the Minister’s Office, and from the US Agency for International Development, Mr. Andrew Lewis, Acting Head of the Working Group, Mr. Ahmed Rizkallah, Senior Education Specialist, and Ms. Hala El-Serafy, Advisor Senior Education, Amr Orabi, Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist, and Nadia Magdy, Operations Manager.
