he Minister of Education participates in the meeting of the Supreme Supervisory Committee of the Arab Model for Quality and Excellence
Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, participated via video conference technology in the meeting of the Supreme Supervisory Committee of the Arab Model for Quality and Excellence in Education project in partnership between the “UNESCO” and ALECSO organizations. This is to discuss the project, which represents a commitment to the needs and aspirations of education systems in Arab countries to enhance competitiveness and its outcomes at the global level, and to contribute to achieving the indicators of the fourth goal of the 2030 Sustainable Development Plan (ensuring equitable and comprehensive quality education for all and enhancing lifelong learning opportunities for all).
This came in the presence of Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Mudayris, Minister of Education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Chairman of the Center’s Board of Directors and Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of the project, Dr. Mohamed Ould Omar, Director General of the Arab Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), Dr. Fatima Ruwais, Secretary of the Supervisory Committee of the project, and the ministers and members of the committee.
In his speech, the Minister of Education thanked the UNESCO Regional Center for Quality and Excellence in Education for its continued support of efforts to develop education in the Arab world, and for adopting the project to build the “Arab Model for Quality and Excellence in Education AMQEE.” Emphasizing that the quality of education is the basic foundation for building advanced societies, and that investing in education is an investment in the future.
The Minister expressed his hope that this project would contribute to developing education quality indicators, exchanging experiences and best practices with participating member states, and adopting an integrated Arab model for quality and excellence in education, which would contribute to achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, especially the fourth goal.
The Minister said: “We are confident that this joint cooperation will contribute to achieving sustainable development goals and building fair and equal knowledge societies.”
The meeting discussed the objectives of the Arab Model for Quality and Excellence in Education (AMQEE) project, which includes analyzing educational systems, benefiting from global best practices, and reviewing the performance of institutions, through developing Arab standards for quality and excellence in education, and various measurement tools.
The meeting also reviewed the conceptual framework of the project, and the axes of the “Arab Model for Quality and Excellence in Education,” which includes future directions, planning, and the forward-looking educational strategic plan, in addition to educational performance, as well as a quality assurance system according to good governance, continuous evaluation and improvement, as well as planning and performance outcomes. It is worth noting that the Arab model for quality and excellence in education represents an integrated guiding tool for achieving quality and excellence in education. It was built on the basis of a clear intellectual framework that relies on integration, interconnection and systemic thinking.
