This came in the presence of Mr. Jeremy Hopkins, UNICEF representative in Egypt, Dr. Randa Halawa, head of the Central Administration for Educational Dropouts, a group of members of the House of Representatives from the Coordination of Youth of Parties and Politicians, and Dr. Rehab Al-Fakharani, member of the Board of Trustees of the Egyptian Tribal and Families Council Foundation.

At the beginning of his speech, Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, expressed his happiness at participating in the “Universal Children’s Day” event, which falls on November 20 of each year, noting that it is the day on which the United Nations adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which the Egyptian state was One of the first countries to ratify it, sending a heartfelt greeting to all children in the world, especially the children of Gaza.

The Minister explained that the Ministry is cooperating with all relevant ministries and organizations, in implementation of the state’s strategy for sustainable development, in concert with the government program, and in cooperation with the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood in implementing the “Empowering the Egyptian Child” program.

The Minister referred to the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which emphasizes the right to life, the right to survival, the right to development, non-discrimination, and respect for the opinions of children, stressing that the Egyptian education reform program is based on childhood, as the Ministry of Education began development starting from the kindergarten stage, Then the rest of the stages were completed, and the goal of development was to achieve joy in learning and respect for the child and his opinions.

The Minister stressed the importance of the early childhood stage because it is considered the golden years for any individual, and investing in childhood is an investment in the future, as they represent the largest segment of society, so the Ministry always works to care for young people, and to consolidate societal, humanitarian, educational and cultural values in our children, and investment must also be made. It is because the rate of growth of intelligence is the highest rate in an individual’s life.

The Minister stressed that the right to education is compulsory, and every child must obtain his right to education, so the Ministry established 5,000 community education schools and friendly schools, noting that community education is characterized by achieving educational acceleration.

The Minister also stressed that education is no longer just passing a test, and the child must be given the right upbringing, so that he has a thinking mechanism, strong personal traits, and perseverance.

The event also witnessed speeches by the Ministers of Social Solidarity, Youth, Sports and Culture, and Ambassador Moushira Khattab, President of the National Council for Human Rights.

In her speech, Dr. Nevin Othman, Secretary General of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, extended her highest thanks and appreciation to His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, in the name of every father, mother, male and female child; This is due to his special interest in childhood issues and His Excellency’s support for national efforts to promote and enforce children’s rights.

She also extended her thanks and gratitude to Mrs. Intisar Al-Sisi, Wife of the President of the Republic, for her generous sponsorship of the national initiative “Dowi” to empower girls and support their participation in a society that accepts and allows this.

Othman added that Egypt follows an integrated and comprehensive methodology to protect all children from all types of exploitation from a human rights perspective stipulated in the Egyptian Constitution and national and international legislation, noting that the Egyptian state is taking the necessary measures to achieve this by developing the legislative framework, drawing up integrated policies, and raising the capabilities of working cadres. In the field of enforcing children’s rights and those dealing with children, as well as organizing community dialogues and campaigns to raise awareness of children’s rights through integrated efforts between government agencies, civil society, international agencies, development partners, the media and all concerned parties, with the participation of children themselves.

Othman expressed her great happiness with the participation of children representing all Egyptian governorates and children in coordination initiatives for party youth and politicians. Children of the Tribal Council and Egyptian families from North Sinai and Ismailia, children of Egyptian government schools from Upper and Delta Egypt, children of the “Peace Choir” of Music and Hope for the Deaf and Mute, along with children from Palestine, Sudan and Syria.

Dr. Nevin Othman indicated her gratitude to Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, because he was her first supporter in her journey with the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, and for opening all schools for members of the Council in all governorates of the Republic, which provided the opportunity to implement all initiatives in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Education. For her part, Representative Rehab Abdel Ghani, representative of the Youth Coordination of Parties and Politicians, pointed out the positive sympathy of children for the Palestinian issue by changing their behavioral and consumption patterns and encouraging the benefit of the Palestinian people, noting that the Palestinian people set an example for all peoples to adhere to human and national values, And Arabic, despite the continuing attempts at cultural Westernization.

She stressed that the Youth Coordination of Parties and Politicians is well aware of the importance of investing in the care and education of children in order to prepare a child who is aware, educated, creative and committed to his rights and duties.
