Minister of Education congratulates STEM School students who won the "Young Water Inventors"
Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, extended his sincere congratulations and appreciation to the students of the "STEM" Schools of Excellence for Science and Technology on the occasion of their victory in the "Young Water Inventors" competition as part of the Cairo Water Week activities held from October 13-17, 2024, under the auspices of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation.
Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif stressed the ministry's keenness to support distinguished and talented students in all fields and provide them with all aspects of care.
The participating students achieved advanced results in the competition, as the first place was won by students Badr Tamer and Mohamed Ayman from the School of Excellence for Science and Technology in Ismailia, with the project Smart IoT Drip Irrigation System Combined with AI driven System for efficient water management in agriculture, which is a smart drip irrigation system integrated with artificial intelligence to manage water efficiently in agriculture.
Second place went to students Abdel-Masih Samuel, George Bassem, and Amr Khaled from the Red Sea School of Excellence in Science and Technology, with the Skimmer for purifying water from leaked oil and petroleum project, to purify water from these oils and then separate these oils according to their type for use in various industries.
Third place went to student Habeeba Tariq from the Alexandria School of Excellence in Science and Technology, with the project Combining Raman Specroscopy and Machine Learning to detect Microplastics in water, which is a combination of using the Raman device and artificial intelligence to detect plastic particles in water.
Fourth place went to students Youssef Abdel-Aal and Yassin Yasser from the Obour School of Excellence in Science and Technology, with the Sustainable Agriculture Irrigation using Biobased Hydrogel project, which is a project based on using hydrogen technology to improve soil properties and reclaim desert lands.
While the fifth place went to students Ziad Mohamed Abdo, Marwan Yehia, and Abdel Rahman Awad from the School of Excellence for Science and Technology in Ismailia, with the project Integrated terterity sewage water treatment via RHA for sustainable agriculture in Egypt. The first place was won by student Engy Fathy Soliman from the School of Excellence for Science and Technology in Maadi in an innovation competition sponsored by the European Union in Egypt as part of the conference activities, for the project The genetically modified bacteria gor enhanced dairy waste water treatment.
