The Minister of Education receives a delegation from the World Bank to discuss support for ways of cooperation in developing the educational system
Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, received, at the headquarters of the Ministry's General Court, Mamta Murthy, Vice President of the World Bank Group for Human Development, Marina Wes, Regional Director for Egypt, Yemen and Djibouti at the World Bank, and their accompanying delegation, to discuss support for ways of cooperation between Egypt and the World Bank in the field of education. .
During the meeting, Dr. Reda Hegazy stressed the importance of cooperation between the Ministry and the World Bank in upgrading the educational system in Egypt, praising in this context the bank's role in supporting development plans in Egypt, especially in the fields of pre-university education, as it is one of Egypt's most important partners in development, noting He pointed out that the World Bank project is one of the projects that helped achieve quality and educational reform.
He added that the Ministry of Education continues to complete the development of the education system, pointing out that the education development plan is an approach adopted by the entire country, and the Ministry is working to complete the process of developing the educational system in this context, and to implement a policy of dialogue and the participation of parents and students. To realize the extent of the effort exerted in developing the educational process.
During the meeting, the minister reviewed the features of the development witnessed by the education system during the previous period, with regard to the indicators of the education reform plan, through several main axes, the most important of which are improving the early childhood education system, developing the skills and capabilities of teachers, developing teaching methods for students, and intensifying the use of Modern technology in the educational process, and the development of advanced and effective systems for evaluation and follow-up in order to ensure the continuous development of the performance of the education system in Egypt.
Dr. Reda Hegazy added that the ministry is currently finalizing a quality assurance system for kindergartens, in close cooperation with the World Bank, pointing out that the ministry's goal is to expand access to early childhood education, improve its quality, and establish a reliable system for evaluating students' performance, exams, and developing teachers' capacities.
The minister also indicated that the ministry, in cooperation with the World Bank, prepared a general framework document for the evaluation of the fourth grade of primary school, and preparations are underway for the second national assessment for the fourth grade of primary school during the months of March and April of this year.
With regard to the high school system, the minister indicated that the third secondary grade exams will be held according to the announced development system, as the exams will be withdrawn from the question bank and will be corrected electronically, and a percentage of no more than 15% of short essay questions has been added according to the nature of each subject. He added that the National Examinations Center is continuing to prepare the specifications for the high school certificate exam paper.
Dr. Reda Hegazy added that a competition for 30,000 teachers has been completed to fill the positions of assistant teachers (kindergarten and class teacher), and the ministry is preparing to train them in the educational part, in addition to receiving training related to physical and mental fitness, before they take up work in schools.
With regard to the professional development framework, he explained that a number of measures have been taken that would speed up the review of the professional framework in preparation for the start of training teachers and mentors. Curricula and the National Examinations Center. This committee will review the professional framework in cooperation with experts from the World Bank and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The minister also indicated that the ministry is participating with the ministries and concerned authorities in implementing the "National Project for the Development of the Egyptian Family" and the "Decent Life" initiative to improve the life of citizens and improve the quality of education for all groups.
For her part, Mamta Murthy, Vice President of the World Bank Group for Human Development, praised the experience of developing education in Egypt, which is seen as an important experience in the region, by working on developing curricula and creating new paths, stressing the World Bank's keenness to provide support for various development projects in Egypt, especially in the field of education.
