Dr. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, met at the Ministry's General Office with a delegation from the World Bank to present Egypt's experience in developing education and to discuss aspects of cooperation between the two sides.
The delegation included Dr. Mirza Hassan, Dean of the Board of Executive Directors and Executive Director of the World Bank, Ambassador Raji El-Etreby, Alternate Executive Director for Egypt at the World Bank Group, Andreas Blum, Director of the Education Sector in the Middle East and North Africa, Amira Kazem, Senior Operations Officer for the Education Sector, and Bridget Crmpton, Senior Education Expert for the Middle East and North Africa, in the presence of Eman Al-Rashidi, Director of the Coordinating Unit for the Education Support Project in Egypt.
During the meeting, Shawky reviewed Egypt's experience in developing education, stressing that the Egyptian state has adopted the national project for the development of education, which aims to prepare a new vision for the educational community as a whole, so that the student becomes more interested in learning and innovation.
Shawky touched on the efforts made by the Ministry to develop educational curricula since 2017, where the Curriculum Development Center has developed curricula for kindergarten, first grade, and up to fourth grade, according to a vision based on the idea of ​​sequencing and scientific accumulation, and in line with international standards. In cooperation with experts and international partners.
The Minister of Education indicated that, in conjunction with the development of curricula, comprehensive rehabilitation and training programs for teachers are also being worked on to teach the new curricula.
On technical education, Dr. Tarek Shawky stressed that the future of technical education will be different, as the ministry is working to attract more students, by linking the entire technical education to the Egyptian, Arab and global labor market, and creating new specializations such as artificial intelligence, jewelry, programming and port work, to meet the needs of the Egyptian market. the job.
For his part, Dr. Mirza Hassan, Dean of the Board of Executive Directors and Executive Director of the World Bank, expressed his great admiration for Egypt's experience in developing education, stressing that Egypt is on the right path to improve the quality of the educational process.
The meeting also touched on discussing the World Bank's current support for education reforms in Egypt, identifying lessons learned through implementing the new Education System 2.0, and sharing those lessons with countries in the region.
