Yesterday evening, the Ministry of Education and Technical Education held the closing ceremony for the final qualifications to participate in the international competition for skills and crafts at the Theater of the Advanced Technical School for Maintenance Technology in Nasr City, within the framework of the Ministry’s interest in developing the professional capabilities of students of technical education, developing their personal characteristics, and engaging them in competitions In line with the strategic objectives of the ministry in raising the efficiency of the Egyptian workforce to provide qualified labor; To contribute to achieving comprehensive economic development and increasing competitiveness locally, internationally and globally.

This came in the presence of Dr. Mohamed Megahed, Deputy Minister of Education for Technical Education, Dr. Mohamed Emara, Head of the Central Administration for Technical Education Schools, Dr. Amr Bassila, Head of the Central Administration for the Development of Technical Education and Director of the Operational Unit and Management of Applied Technology Schools, and Engineer Atef Abdel Malak, Deputy Director of the Operational Support Project, Professor Mahmoud Kamal, the official representative of the world skills company and the Ahmed Kamal Foundation for Skills Development and Training, Miss Mary Ann Therese Manson, Director of the Education Department at the UNESCO Regional Office for Science, and Hashem Jamea, Director General of Business Education.

In his speech, Dr. Mohamed Megahed welcomed the attendees, stressing that this day is a fulfillment of a dream we started thinking about more than five years ago, which is Egypt's participation in the worldskills competition.

Dr. Muhammad Mujahid stressed the importance of youth acquiring and mastering skills and industries, noting that the ministry began developing technical education, and the core of the change was mastering the skills, behaviors and knowledge associated with them.

The Deputy Minister explained that in order to achieve real economic development, it was necessary to develop technical education, stressing the interest of the political leadership in this development, so that the outputs of technical education are appropriate to what the government desires to achieve in development and economics, and so on.

Dr. Mohamed Megahed stressed that developing technical education in Egypt is a governmental priority to serve the needs of the labor market, noting that this is a constitutional commitment that the government adheres to implementing with international quality standards.

For his part, Engineer Atef Abdel Malak, Deputy Director of the Employment Support Project, praised the efforts of the participants and experts in making the first of these courses a success, wishing all the students participating in this competition to represent Egypt in the global competition, which will be held next month.

In his speech, the Deputy Director of the GIZ Project commended the participation of 20 female students in this competition, representing 40% of the participants, pointing out that all participating students are ambassadors of technical education, and everyone who participated in it is highly appreciated and respected.

In her speech, on behalf of Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Muzaini, Director and Representative of the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science in the Arab States, Mary Ann Therese Manson, Director of the Education Division at the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science, indicated that UNESCO firmly believes that skills play an essential role in a successful and equitable transition to working life. .

She emphasized that UNESCO's efforts to enhance skills are based on three basic areas: the development of skills for all individuals to learn, work and live; developing the skills needed to achieve inclusive and sustainable economies; and developing skills for inclusive and peaceful societies.

She noted that the 2022 WorldSkills Egypt National Competition is the result of the generous support and contribution of various partners and the common denominator between us is that we all share the desire to create a better life for Egypt's youth by supporting skills development.

She thanked all partners and stakeholders for their support, without whom this competition would not have been possible.

She pointed out that the WorldSkills ceremony is often called the "Skills Olympiad", explaining that it is a prestigious competition that attracts the highest level of skilled youth, explaining that being here today is a confirmation of the level of excellence achieved by students in developing their skills, wishing that students realize how honorable it is. Big competition in this national qualifier.

The Ministry indicated that the final purification stage of the national competition included the stage of selecting the top students (basic - reserve) in each skill to qualify for the global competition to represent the Arab Republic of Egypt in the global competition, and its activities were held over three days, from 20 to 22 September 2022 at the headquarters The Advanced Technical School for Maintenance Technology in Nasr City, and the opening ceremony was held on the first day of the activities, with the presentation of the jury, and a demo of innovations / prototypes for the finalists from the Schools of Applied Technology.

During the ceremony, a documentary film of the activities of the first national competition for skills and crafts was shown at the level of the Republic.

The results of the competition winners at the level of the Republic were announced in the first places and escalation to global competition, and they are as follows: Student Ahmed Khaled Industrial Engineering CAD in Cairo, student Michel Morris majoring in mobile software in Cairo, student Mohamed Mahmoud majoring in information technology software solutions in Cairo, and student Malak Mohamed Fawzy majoring in mobile software Hairdressing in Alexandria, Ahmed Obaid Ahmed majoring in cloud computing in Cairo, Mohamed Najah majoring in cooking in Gharbia, Ahmed Mohamed El-Sayed majoring in Information Network System Administration in Cairo, Salma Khamis majoring in Web Technology in Cairo, Rania Nabil majoring in Fashion Technology in Cairo, and Michael Jamil Moussa specializes in information network cables in Cairo.

The students of applied technology schools participating in the "My Skill" competition were also honored. The student Karim Hamdi Ali took first place, Abram Nabil Refaat took second place, and Marwan Basem Sami took third place.

It is worth noting that the technical education sector will participate in the WorldSkills Global Competition, a global competition held every two years and the largest professional excellence event in the world. WorldSkills is a global center for skills excellence and development through international cooperation and development between industry, government, organizations and institutions. The importance of skills education and training for youth, industries and society by challenging young professionals around the world to become the best in their chosen skill; Therefore, the first national competition for worldskills Egypt was announced, and (10) skills were selected to participate in the national competition for skills, and the global competition for skills and crafts WorldSkills, including: competition (information network cables, industrial engineering CAD, mobile software development, and information technology software solutions business, web technology, hairdressing, fashion technology, cooking, network information system management, and cloud computing)
