The Minister of Education receives Ambassador Nabila Makram and the delegation of the Coordination of Youth Parties and Politicians
Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, received Ambassador Nabila Makram, the former Minister of State for Migration and Affairs of Egyptians Abroad, the founder and chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Fahim Foundation for Psychological Support, and a delegation from the Coordination of Political Parties and Youth Coordination, to discuss ways of cooperation to provide psychological support. for children in schools.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister welcomed the attendees, appreciating the role of the "Fahem" Foundation in spreading awareness of mental health. The Minister also valued the role of the various initiatives launched by the Coordination of Youth Parties and Politicians in this context, expressing his readiness for fruitful cooperation for the mental health of students in schools.
The minister said that the ministry is working to take into account the safety of the mental health of students, through the part related to shaping their personality and socialization, within the general framework of the curricula.
Dr. Reda Hijazi indicated that the school is the real place for teaching and learning, noting that the ministry is adopting a new approach in the continuous evaluation of students by making performances through monthly exams and projects.
The minister also referred to the ministry's interest in implementing the day of sports, artistic and cultural activities within schools and activating the role of the theater through the "Revive School Theater" initiative to build the student's personality and discover, nurture and invest talents in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture.
For her part, Ambassador Nabila Makram reviewed the role of the "Fahem" Foundation in providing psychological support to children and families who have children suffering from a psychological disorder, provided that work is done on several slides for students, in schools in the primary, middle and high school levels, in an attempt to break the stigma of the disease. psycho.
Makram suggested using the psychologist in 1,300 experimental schools nationwide to detect any illness or mental fatigue, especially since it could start for a child from a young age if he is bullied.
Ambassador Nabila Makram also reviewed several other proposals for a set of initiatives to be implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Technical Education, to work in favor of spreading psychological awareness for students, parents and teachers, which was welcomed by Dr. Reda Hijazi, as it was agreed to sign a protocol to enhance cooperation in this framework.
For her part, Representative Rasha Kulaib, a member of the Coordination of the Parties, said that the coordination committees are keen on permanent cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, which is considered one of the important ministries as it is of interest to every Egyptian home, noting that the coordination strategy 2023 includes a set of initiatives in the axis of "multiple construction". She stressed that the Ministry of Education represents a major factor in these initiatives, as the Ministry of Education is not only concerned with students, but also with parents.
Representative Hoda Ammar also spoke about the need to pay attention to psychological awareness for parents of students with special needs and teachers, and stressed the importance of amending the curricula of students in schools of intellectual education.
In this context, Dr. Reda Hegazy explained that, within the framework of the Rufaqa initiative, "They are capable of differently", the Ministry is currently preparing guiding boards with the most used signs for deaf and mute students, accompanied by a QR code that shows the movement of the sign, provided that it is circulated to all schools in the Republic. To raise community awareness and spread the culture of sign language, and to facilitate their daily dealings, participation and integration as an authentic partner in society. The Ministry is also working on developing the academic content for deaf and mute students to include educational activities and treatments that are commensurate with their disabilities.
The meeting included an open dialogue to discuss mechanisms of cooperation to spread awareness of the importance of activating the role of the family in discovering the causes of aggressive behavior of children early and confronting the phenomena of bullying, violence, etc., as well as educating parents about the Child Rights Law, and early intervention in agreement with the Board of Trustees and parents of schools to raise awareness by holding qualifying seminars. And psychological, in addition to increasing the number of psychologists in schools.
Several proposals related to supporting talent and innovation in students' positive interaction with social media applications were also discussed, as well as discussing the introduction of software education from childhood and self-development, as well as conducting awareness campaigns for parents to confront the phenomena of harassment, violence and addiction.
